In 2019, Fairwinds Farm, owned and operated by JoAnn (above, left) and husband Ted Dawson, served as one of the locations for the DBM Films production Hope’s Legacy, featuring Dyan Cannon. After the incredible success of the film, JoAnn submitted her script Cream of the Crop to the director, Douglas B. Maddox of DBM Films (above, right). The story centers around the preservation of family farmland for future generations, a subject to which JoAnn has deep personal connection. Douglas agreed to take the helm, assembling a stellar cast and crew to bring the script to life. The film was shot at eight locations throughout Cecil County in the summer of 2021.
